Halloween in Calgary 2026: your guide to the Saturday Halloween weekend

Halloween falls on a Saturday, so Calgary gets a Friday night out, a full Saturday of zoo, museum and main-street fun, and trick-or-treating with no school the next morning. Here are the plans, the picks and the streets worth walking.

EnjoyHere editorsUpdated Monday, October 26, 2026

Halloween lands on a Saturday this year, and Calgary has spread it across the whole weekend. ZooBOO runs on both Saturday and Sunday. The Confluence turns Fort Calgary into an adults-only night market on Friday and a free family festival on Saturday. Kids can trick-or-treat on a Saturday night with nothing to get up for on Sunday. Sunset on the 31st is at 6:11pm and it's fully dark by about 6:45, so dress for a cold, dark prairie evening.

We started with the roughly 70 Halloween listings on EnjoyHere Calgary for October 26 to November 1, cut them down to the ones worth a drive across the city, and checked the key times against organizers' pages. One thing to know first: Halloween on 17th Ave, the most-viewed Halloween page on the site this week, was October 23–24 and is already over. Below are three plans for the weekend, our picks by category, the trick-or-treat neighbourhoods with the most kids, and the practical details.

Weeknight warm-ups (Oct 26–29)

Halloween week starts early. On Monday The GRAND screens Sam Raimi's Evil Dead II at 7pm ($15). It's the slapstick, chainsaw-and-shotgun sequel, and it plays best with a crowd. On Thursday you have three options. The Confluence hosts its first-ever Rocky Horror Picture Show in the Burnswest Theatre (7pm, $16.72; the bar and a themed cocktail open at 6). Alberta Arts Pro Wrestling brings AAPWEEN to Whiskey Rose Saloon at 6pm ($22.48). Or catch the last night of WinSport's Haunted Mini Golf, a licensed course, so you can have a beer with your putt ($10–17).

Heritage Park's Ghosts and Gourmet dinner-and-ghost-tour starts its run on Wednesday, if you'd rather book the spooky night out before the weekend.

Neighbourhoods

Saddle Ridge & Taradale (NE)

The busiest doorbells in the city by the numbers. One Saddle Ridge area showed a 99% kids-per-doorbell rate, and Curiocity ranks both among the top spots.

Evergreen & Bridlewood (SW)

The southwest pair on Curiocity's "best places to be" list. Nearby Discovery Ridge posted the highest ratio in the south, at 96%.

Panorama Hills & Coventry Hills (N)

Far-north suburbs that show up dark on the 2021-census density map, which means a lot of kids and a lot of porches lit up.

Auburn Bay & New Brighton (SE)

Southeast lake communities flagged on the same density map. Good for families who want to stay close to home in the deep south.

Hillhurst to Altadore (inner city)

Hillhurst, West Hillhurst, Connaught, Garrison Woods and Altadore still register heavy foot traffic, for anyone who wants a walkable route without driving to the suburbs.

Know before you go

  • Sunset

**Sunset is at 6:11pm** on Saturday and civil twilight ends at 6:46pm. Plan to be out the door by about 6.

  • Timing

**The clocks don't change this weekend.** Alberta's Official Time Act put the province on UTC−6 year-round, so there's no fall-back on November 1. If your device or a friend in another province says otherwise, ignore it.

  • Weather

**Dress for the cold.** Open-Meteo's latest run (late Oct 25) shows a dry Saturday with a high near 5°C and about 1°C at 6pm. Check Environment Canada before you choose costumes.

  • Timing

**Make kids visible.** The free Ready Set Halloween event hands out wearable lights, and a strip of reflective tape on a dark costume works too.

  • Getting there

**Transit:** we found no Halloween-specific Calgary Transit changes announced for Saturday, but several routes have detours this month. Check service updates before you head downtown.

  • Timing

**Book The Confluence's add-ons ahead.** Entry is free, but true crime tours and movie screenings have limited tickets and pre-registration is recommended.
