Before ROCKY made Sylvester Stallone a star, he was a struggling actor with little more than a dream and a screenplay. Inspired by Muhammad Ali’s legendary bout with Chuck Wepner, Stallone wrote a story about an underdog boxer who refuses to give up. When a studio wants the script but not its unknown writer-star, Stallone refuses to let anyone else play the hero.Directed by Oscar-winner Peter Farrelly, and featuring a breakout performance from Anthony Ippolito as the young Stallone, I PLAY ROCKY chronicles the improbable journey from poverty and obscurity to one of Hollywood’s most iconic success stories.
